CBIS History
Cowichan Brain Injury Society was founded in 2019 in response to a growing need for brain injury services in the Cowichan Valley. Prior to CBIS’s inception, individuals with ABIs needed to commute to Victoria or Nanaimo to receive brain injury-related services.
Moving Around
Since its inception in 2019, CBIS’s office has moved several times. We found our current location at St Julien Plaza in 2023. This location provides much better accessibility for our service users who need it. It has also given us many opportunities for growth.
Making Changes
Like brain injuries, CBIS is ever-changing and continuing to evolve.
In 2024, CBIS entered a new chapter with renewed leadership and a refreshed Board of Directors. Building on a strong foundation, we are focused on expanding services and strengthening support for brain injury survivors and families throughout the Cowichan Valley.
